Intercredit Bank, N.A. is a Miami-based bank founded in 1992 as a result of the purchase of a Miami community bank. We are a full service commercial and consumer financial institution providing high quality banking services to our customers. The Bank is a National Association supervised by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
In June of 2020, Intercredit was purchased by Dr. Fidel Egas Grijalva. Dr. Egas is the majority owner of Banco Pichincha Holding Group. Founded in 1906, Banco Pichincha Holding Group owns the largest private commercial bank in Ecuador in addition to banks in Spain, Colombia, Peru and Panama, as well as an agency office in Miami. Intercredit Bank is not part of the Banco Pichincha Holding Group and is separately managed and regulated.

Intercredit formally launched its direct banking brand, Pibank USA, on August 12, 2024. Pibank is an online banking solution designed for consumers seeking competitive high-yield savings products, offering the ability to open and manage their savings exclusively online. It also provides a personalized customer support center for direct assistance.

Mr. Cruz joined Intercredit Bank, N.A. in 2011 and served as its President & CEO until his appointment as Chairman of the Board in May 2023. He has a distinguished banking career that spans four decades with community banks, international banks, money center banks and real estate investment firms. An active community leader for more than 25 years, he has served as a board member of the School of International Public Affairs (SIPA) at Florida International University and as a past Director of the Florida Bankers Association’s (FBA) School of Banking and the Florida Export Finance Corporation. He is presently a member of the Board of Directors of the American Bankers Association and board member of the Center for Financial Training at Miami-Dade College. Mr. Cruz served as a Miami Beach Commissioner for 10 years. He graduated cum laude from Rutgers University and went on to earn a Masters Degree in International Economics and Latin American Studies from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
Mr. Triay was appointed as a member of the Board in 2015 and served as the Bank's Chairman until June 2020. Mr. Triay has over 35 years of experience in the banking industry, where he has held various leadership and management roles. He served as President, CEO, Vice Chairman and Member of the Board of Directors at First Bank of Miami for 12 years (2001-2014). A former bank examiner with the Florida Office of Financial Regulations (OFR), Mr. Triay learned the banking business from the inside out. He is a former President (2013-2014) of the Florida Bankers Association, and has participated as on the Executive Committee of the Association. He is a graduate of Florida International University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a Major in Banking and Finance. He also earned a Certificate from the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) at the University of Georgia in Athens.
Mr. Mantilla was appointed as a Board member in July 2020. He has over 20 years of corporate management experience with companies operating in the United States and Latin America, including most recently Diario Las Americas, a Spanish language newspaper published in Miami, FL, Diarios Unidos del Ecuador DIUNESA, a newspaper published throughout Ecuador, and The Miami Herald Media Company. Mr. Mantilla is currently employed by HP, Inc. as manager of its Indigo Supplies unit. Mr. Mantilla is involved with various professional associations, including as a member of the board of directors of the Latin American Newspapers Technical Association and the Ecuadorian Graphic Arts Industry Association. He holds degrees from the Rochester Institute of Technology (B.S.) and the Institut Européen d'Administration des Affaires (European Institute of Business Administration; M.B.A.).
Mr. Acosta was appointed as a member of the Board in July 2020. He has over 35 years of banking experience within the South Florida and Latin American markets. From 1986 until May 2021, Mr. Acosta was employed by the Miami Agency of Banco Pichincha, the largest privately owned bank in Ecuador. Prior to his employment with the Agency, Mr. Acosta held the position of VP of Correspondent Banking for Barclays Bank PLC in Miami, FL. During his career, Mr. Acosta has gained extensive knowledge and experience with the South Florida banking and financial communities, and has participated on the board of directors of the Florida International Bankers Association and the Center for Financial Training at Miami Dade College. He holds degrees from Florida International University (B.A.) and Georgetown University (M.A.).
Ms. Fernandez was elected Member of the Board in April 2023. She is CEO and founder of Attica Consulting Group LLC leading a group of bankers specialized in providing consulting services to the financial industry. A practicing attorney and former complex commercial litigator, Ms. Fernandez entered the banking industry in early 1991 with general counsel roles at a private, and later at a public, financial institution before joining TotalBank (1999 – 2018). Ms. Fernandez is a member of the Advisory Board of the University of Miami Law School’s Real Property and Development LLM Program and the Legal and Regulatory Affairs Committee of FIBA. She was president of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), Miami Chapter, and Director on the CREW Network Foundation Board. Ms. Fernandez graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Miami School of Law.
Mr. Abelleira was appointed as a Member of the Bank's Board of Directors in June 2023. He has over thirty (30) years of experience in Board, Executive Management and other leadership positions at banks of varying sizes; and cross-border banking, including leading efforts to align business models among affiliate banks in different markets. He has extensive regulatory experience and knowledge, both from within a regulatory institution (including the Bank of Spain) and from within financial institutions; as well as meshing successful growth strategies with sound risk protocols, particularly in his roles at Evo Bank, Gulf Bank, Banco Pichincha Spain and now in his current role as CEO of Pichincha Corporation in Ecuador. Mr. Abelleira holds degrees from Caixanova Escuela de Negocios, Instituto de Consejeros e Instituto Lagunas in Spain.
Mr. Martinez joined Intercredit as a member of its Board of Directors in January 2024. He brings a combination of roles and experience in the economic and financial field, as well as a commitment to innovation and excellence in banking management. Mr. Martinez has served, among others, in the following key positions: (i) National Federation of Chambers of Industries of Ecuador (“Chairman”); (ii) Ecuadorian Development Bank (“Chairman”); (iii) Inter-American Development Bank in Washington (Vice-President); and (iv) Minister of Economy and Finance of Ecuador. Mr. Martinez graduated as Economist from the Catholic University of Ecuador and went on to earn a Postgraduate degree from the University of Barcelona and an MBA from IDE Business School of Ecuador.
Ms. Duran was elected Member of the Board of Directors of Intercredit Bank, N.A. in April 2024. She is an accomplished global executive with over 25 years of success leading high-growth cloud divisions for global multinational organizations. Currently, Ms. Duran serves as VP of Digital Platforms Latin America & Caribbean at Mastercard, leading the Marketing & Commerce Cloud platform. She is focused on driving growth, empowering teams, and making a positive impact in the communities she serves. Ms. Duran graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration & Marketing from the University of San Francisco de Quito, and holds a Digital Transformation Certificate from Berkeley Haas and a Modern Marketing Certificate from Kellogg School of Management.
